Flor Andrion named MEO Employee of the Month

November 18, 2022

The naming of Flor Andrion as Maui Economic Opportunity Employee of the Month was so appropriate given the recent 49th Maui County Senior Fair.

Flor was instrumental in the successful running of the Senior Fair on Oct. 29, working behind the scenes. She played the same key role in the Kupuna Aloha Luncheon in July.

Hired in October 2013, Flor is a Senior Club Specialist, working with Maui Planning & Coordinating Council Coordinator Zilpah Kaimiola and fellow Specialist Lorna Tagorda. In addition to helping coordinate the Senior Fair and Kupuna Luncheon, the team supports kupuna by providing important information and facilitating access to services and assists kupuna clubs countywide.

Nani Watanabe, retired Maui Independent Living Center Coordinator, nominated Flor and pointed out that she helps process applications for Red Cards, which offer discounts at designated businesses for kupuna, and nutrition programs.

“She deserves this recognition because she did her work with a smile, and at the end of her day she would stop by and say ‘Bye, see you tomorrow,’ ” said Watanabe.

For being named Employee of the Month for September, Flor earned a $150 check and an extra vacation day. She was honored at MEO’s General Staff meeting on Oct. 31.
