48th Annual Maui County Senior Fair! 😃🤙The 48th annual Senior Fair, “Communities of Strength,” will return virtually for the second time in the event’s history beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, due to the pandemic. The Fair will appear virtually via Zoom, livestreamed on Facebook and broadcast on Akaku Channel 54 and offers information for kupuna, entertainment and fellowship.Legislators, for-profit businesses and nonprofits are encouraged to participate by commercial, pre-recorded message via Zoom. Applications must be submitted no later than Monday, Sept. 27. For-profit businesses can submit a 60-second commercial for a $25 fee/donation. There is no-cost for nonprofit agencies or legislators to join, though gift cards of $10 or $20 increments would be appreciated for door prizes for Kupuna.All commercials and messages must be no longer than 60 seconds and must be prerecorded and submitted in MP4 format by Monday, Oct. 11.Legislators may choose to speak virtually for 60 seconds but must submit an application by Sept. 27.This event is produced by MEO and funded by the Maui County Office on Aging. *Citizenship class set for Aug. 7, 14*A two-session citizenship class will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, Aug. 7 and 14, at Maui Economic Opportunity classrooms in Wailuku.The class, being offered jointly by MEO and Maui Immigration Services, will prepare attendees to take the U.S. citizenship exam.The cost is $15 per student.COVID-19 safety rules will be in place, including limits on students, wearing of face masks and maintaining social distancing.Registration is required, and walk-ins will not be accepted.
