Valley Isle Community Federal Credit Union currently is holding its annual
preschool supply drive for the children of Maui Economic Opportunity’s Head
Start.
The drive runs through July 7. Supplies may be dropped off at the credit
union’s branches in Kahului (160 Pa`ahana St.), Wailuku (69 N. Market St.)
and Lahaina (40 Kupuohi St., Ste. 102).
Items for donation include: composition books (wide ruled), Crayola Markers
(10 count, broad tip), Crayola Crayons (large 8 count and 24 count),
plastic pencil boxes, glue sticks, glue bottles and scissors (blunt tip).
“On behalf of the MEO Head Start families, we would like to thank Valley
Isle Community Federal Credit Union for holding this supply drive,” said
MEO CEO Debbie Cabebe. “Head Start offers preschool at no cost to
income-qualifying families. With the high cost of living in Hawai`i, the
gift of school supplies will help struggling Head Start families.”
MEO recently received a letter from federal officials confirming Head Start
funding for the 2025-26 school year. There are a few spots still available
for 3 and 4 year olds.
Applications may be completed online at meoinc.org (scroll down to “Quick
Links”). For more information, contact the MEO Head Start office at (808)
249-2988 during office hours, weekdays, 7:15 a.m. to 4 p.m., except on
federal and state holidays.
