Carly Rose Ortiz attended MEO Head Start centers at UH-Maui College (Maui Community College back then) and Kahului A at Luana Gardens. She enjoyed the assorted activities offered, including rolling peanut butter balls and eating them! As a preschooler, Carly Rose wanted to be an actress. She spent so much time playing house with her friends.
She is currently attending Weber State University in Utah and has three more semesters to go for her bachelor’s degree. Carly Rose currently works at MEO as a Program Specialist for the Enlace Hispano Program. She normally returns to MEO during school breaks but has extended her current stay to assist those impacted by the wildfires.
“Attending Head Start prepared me for grade school,” said Carly Rose. “My first language was Spanish. I learned how to speak English by attending Head Start and socializing with other kids my age. My parents left for work with one less thing to worry about because MEO Head Start has always been a reliable program that offers the best of care and support for families who need them.”
MEO Head Start “Through the Years” is a recurring feature highlighting graduates of the program then and now.
