Margaret Cambra was sworn in as president of the Maui County Planning & Coordinating Council of kupuna clubs for 2024 by Judge Bevanne Bowers on Wednesday at Maui Economic Opportunity.

Bowers also installed Vice President David Yanagisako, Secretary Edwina Wilson-Snyder and Treasurer Karolyn Mossman (who was traveling; Don Snyder stood in for her) at the P&CC’s first meeting of 2024.

The P&CC includes the officers of more than 50 kupuna clubs countywide and seeks to enhance the quality of life for seniors through education, companionship and better health. About 30 officers of kupuna clubs attended the meeting.

Wednesday’s meeting was the first for MEO’s new P&CC Coordinator Rosemelynda Leano.

Margaret Cambra, requested and received the support of members, before taking the oath as president of the Maui County Planning & Coordinating Council on Wednesday at MEO. About 30 officers of kupuna clubs countywide attended the first meeting of the year of the Maui County Planning & Coordinating Council in-person at Maui Economic Opportunity in Wailuku and on-line.

Maui Economic Opportunity has been administering the predominantly federally funded Maui Relief TANF Program in partnership with the state Department of Human Services since shortly after the Aug. 8, 2023, wildfires.
