Naming trusted individuals to serve as beneficiaries and holders of the power of attorney was a popular topic overed by attorney Meg Obenauf at an estate planning workshop put on by Maui Economic Opportunity’s Maui Independent Living Center.
Obenauf led the hour-long gathering of about 15 people in the MEO Classrooms on Wednesday. Kate Eifler provided the American Sign Language interpretation for deaf members of the audience.
There were many questions about how to identify and appoint a beneficiary/power of attorney who could be trusted to make sure their wishes were followed.
MILC’s mission is to ensure persons with disabilities are full social, civic and economic partners in the community. Offerings focus on connecting clients with services, equipment and information to live independently.
