Maui Economic Opportunity Employee of the Month Regina Lee has that ability to deliver difficult information to her clients in the Head Start preschool program with “such respect and empathy” for their benefit.

“She often goes out of her way to talk to people who are calling to get information; they may not be clients, just people who need a listening ear,” said Dee Wilson, who nominated Regina for the award. “This employee talks with them with such respect and empathy and guides them in the right direction.”

Regina is a multiple winner of the Employee of the Month – in 2004, 2010 and 2016. The Head Start disability/mental health/transition manager will celebrate 22 years with MEO in September.

Through the years, Regina has worn many hats. She is flexible with fellow team members and the community, humble, dedicated, patient and professional, said Dee.

For being named Employee of the Month for December, Regina earned a $150 check and an extra vacation day. She was honored at MEO’s General Staff meeting on Jan. 20. Dee received $50 as the nominator.

MEO Head Start, which offers preschool at no cost to families, is currently accepting children for the 2023-24 school year. For more information, call MEO’s Early Childhood Services office at (808) 249-2988.
