Transportation Director Patty Copperfield was selected Maui Economic Opportunity November Employee of the Month for her “can-do” attitude and modeling teamwork for her department.
Patty was recognized at the MEO holiday staff gathering on Dec. 21.
Her nominator, Daneford Wright, said that Patty “exemplifies what dedication is all about.”
“She will go beyond the scope of her responsibilities to help other workers and the department by being creative and flexible and jumping into the thick of the mix with a can-do attitude and showing an example of what teamwork really means,” he said.
She strives for “personal excellence” in herself and others and has done almost every job in her department. Patty “manages with compassion, understanding and integrity, which makes her a great leader,” Daneford said. Patty rose through the ranks at MEO Transportation, beginning as a dispatcher in 2013 and rising to Operations Manager, the No. 2 position in the department, in August 2020. In between, she was a sheduler/planner, from November 2014 to September 2017, and customer service and community relations supervisor from September 2017 to August 2020.
She became MEO Transportation director in May 2021.
As Employee of the Month, Patty earned a $150 check and an extra vacation day. Daneford received $50 as the nominator.
