March 22, 2020 marks 55 years since MEO was established and was designated as Maui County’s antipoverty agency.
We had planned many community and employee activities and events to celebrate this milestone. However, in response to the current national crisis, we are postponing these activities and events until later in the year and are focusing on keeping our staff safe, while meeting the needs of the people we serve.
Effective, Monday, March 23 all staff (except for Kahi Kamali’i Toddler Center and Head Start teaching staff) will work a three-day staggered workweek to minimize the risk of exposure and support social distancing. All MEO offices will remain open during normal business hours to allow us to quickly respond to urgent needs, such as essential transportation to and from dialysis and necessary medical appointments, and shopping for food and medicine, toddler care for essential workers, and has limited funds for emergency assistance to pay for rent and for essential food.
Kahi Kamali’Ii is open during regular hours of operation Monday through Thursday to serve working families and will close at noon on Fridays to allow for deep cleaning. All Head Start remains closed in conjunction with the DOE.
To keep everyone safe, as much as possible, we discourage in-person visits to our facilities. Please stay home and email [email protected] to discuss your individual needs and we will contact you. We are also contacting all current clients to determine need and provide assistance when possible.
If you do not have the ability to email us, to minimize your hold time, please contact the department you need assistance from directly and only contact the Administration office if you are not sure who to contact. We will do our best to respond before the end of business on the day that you call.
